Scopes of Ownership
Scopes of Ownership define specific areas of the company that are entrusted to a particular team member. Within this scope, the person has broad decision-making freedom and full accountability for results.
Goals
- Establish clear responsibilities across the company
- Create room for autonomy and self-efficacy
- Encourage ownership and entrepreneurial action
How it works
During the probation period, after a role change, or as part of a performance review, the manager and the employee agree on which areas of the team or company truly βbelongβ to that person. The focus is not on daily tasks, but on the domains, topics, or company areas for which the person is fully responsible. With this scope comes both wide-ranging autonomy in decision-making and accountability for progress and outcomes. The Scope of Ownership also serves as the baseline for performance evaluation.
